What is early childhood intervention and what are the benefits?

Early intervention is tailored to your child's needs, to promote their:

  • development

  • well-being

  • community participation

Early childhood intervention at Capable Juniors Academy includes many services that can support your child from birth to school entry and to 9 years of age. They also provide education to parents, carers and families so that you can:

  • meet your child's needs

  • build your child's strengths

  • help your child develop new skills

  • support your child to engage in experiences and activities

Our early intervention specialist, has 13 years of Special Education teaching experience, with 11 of those years spent teaching in an autism specific specialist school.
Over the years, particularly whilst teaching the younger years, she has noticed the need for personalised support and intervention for children and their families prior to attending school. Whilst building the confidence and capacity of families and their child with strategies and skill building, these supports need to go beyond just the child and family unit and into the child's early childhood setting so that those supporting the child prior to school can feel confident and supported adapting resources and putting necessary supports in place.

Early intervention can help a child with a disability or developmental delay get the best start to life. The earlier your child is able to access appropriate intervention supports, the better the outcome is likely to be.

Capable Juniors Academy's early intervention specialist can also:

  • assess your child's progress at regular intervals

  • create a supportive environment where your child feels comfortable

  • support your child's inclusion and participation at preschool or other early education settings

  • prepare your child for primary school

  • create opportunities for your child to meet other children
